Joni McGinley was born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, which is also where she now resides. 

She earned her BFA in photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2019. 

She works primarily in photography, focusing on film processes.

The unique landscapes of the Cape are where she draws most of her inspiration. Her large-format photographs explore the anomalous, unpicturesque landscapes of the region and how, at times, it relates to the human form. Using an old-fashioned photographing process, she explores and critiques historical tropes of photography through modern eyes.
